Marketing Assistant

Do you enjoy taking pictures, creating social media content, and finding creative ways to get people excited about something?

Tangerine Zebra is looking for a Marketing Assistant to support our Marketing Manager with social media, email marketing, and other marketing projects. This is an entry-level role with a strong focus on creating content for our estate sales, online auctions, consignment sales, and other services.

A big part of the job is getting out into the field. You'll travel to estate sale locations, photograph inventory, capture video, and create content that helps people discover what's coming up. One day you might be photographing a room full of vintage furniture, the next you could be creating a short video about a collection of baseball cards or putting together a Facebook Marketplace listing.

You'll help turn what we find in our sales into content that gets people excited to come see it.

What You'll Do

• Photograph estate sale inventory and capture video content at sale locations

• Take and organize large volumes of photos for upcoming sales

• Create social media content for Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok

• Write captions and other short-form marketing copy

• Create email marketing content using photos and information from upcoming sales

• Repurpose content across social media, email, print advertising, and other marketing channels

• Create promotional assets for estate sales, online auctions, consignment sales, and other Tangerine Zebra services

• Create and post Facebook Marketplace listings for items we're selling

• Help identify items, collections, or moments that would make interesting social content

• Schedule and publish social media content

• Help capture behind-the-scenes content and the personality of Tangerine Zebra

• Support the Marketing Manager with additional marketing projects as needed

• Pay attention to social media trends and bring new content ideas to the team

• Review content performance and help identify what is working and what we could try differently

What We're Looking For

• Creative and naturally curious

• Comfortable creating content for social media

• Strong eye for interesting photos, visuals, and details

• Comfortable taking lots of photos and video with a smartphone

• Comfortable writing short, engaging social media captions

• Familiar with Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok

• Comfortable learning new platforms, tools, and technology

• Able to work independently and manage projects to completion

• Organized and able to keep track of lots of photos, videos, and content

• Willing to follow Tangerine Zebra's brand standards while still bringing your own creative perspective

• Comfortable working in a constantly changing environment

• Professional and respectful when working in clients' homes

• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to estate sale locations throughout our service area

• Reliable attendance and follow-through

Graphic design experience is a plus. Experience creating video content, Reels, or TikToks is a plus. Experience with Canva, Adobe, or other creative tools is helpful but not required.

You don't need to have years of marketing experience for this role. We're looking for someone who is excited to learn, comfortable trying things, and has a good eye for content.

Schedule: Part-time with flexible hours. Primarily daytime hours, with scheduling based on upcoming sales and marketing needs.

Location: This position can be partially remote but requires in-person meetings in Ames and regular travel to our estate sale locations throughout our service area.

Travel: This position requires reliable transportation and travel to estate sale locations throughout our service area, primarily in the Ames and Des Moines metro areas.
