Part-time | Primarily Ames & Des Moines Metro | Physical, hands-on work | Flexible scheduling based on project needs

About the Role

Tangerine Zebra helps families navigate estate sales, cleanouts, and other major life transitions. Our cleanout team helps clear homes, garages, basements, and other spaces by removing unwanted items, hauling belongings, and preparing properties for their next chapter.

This is a hands-on, physically demanding role. Much of the work involves lifting, carrying, sorting, and loading furniture and household items for disposal, donation, or resale. Every project is different, and we're looking for dependable team members who are ready to work hard, work safely, and treat our clients and their homes with respect.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with estate and post tag sale cleanouts, removing items from homes, garages, basements, and other spaces

  • Lift, carry, sort, and haul furniture, boxes, household goods, and miscellaneous items

  • Load and unload dumpsters, trailers, trucks, and other vehicles

  • Sort and load usable items for donation, helping get belongings into the hands of local nonprofits and people who can use them

  • Box and move items for donation, resale, storage, or disposal

  • Load and unload trailers containing boxes, tubs, furniture, and other items

  • Drive company trucks or trailers when needed and qualified

  • Keep work areas organized and follow safe lifting and handling practices

  • Work efficiently with the team to complete projects on schedule

  • Maintain reliable attendance and communicate promptly about scheduling

  • Interact respectfully with clients and treat their homes and belongings with care

  • Assist with other general labor and operational tasks as needed

What We're Looking For

  • Dependable, hardworking, and ready to jump in where needed

  • Comfortable with physically demanding work throughout the day

  • Able to lift and carry 50+ lbs and move heavy items, including furniture, with assistance or equipment when needed

  • Comfortable working in basements, garages, storage areas, and spaces that may be dusty or cluttered

  • Able to work safely around heavy items, trailers, dumpsters, and disposal areas

  • A team player who can also take initiative and follow directions

  • Respectful and professional when working in clients' homes

  • Reliable transportation to travel independently to job sites throughout our service area

  • Valid driver's license and a safe driving record for occasions when driving company vehicles is needed

Previous experience in moving, cleanouts, construction, warehouse work, landscaping, or general labor is helpful but not required.

Schedule: Part-time, with hours and scheduling based on project needs. Workdays and hours may vary depending on cleanout and estate sale schedules.

Location: Team members are responsible for their own transportation to job sites throughout our service area, primarily in the Ames and Des Moines metro areas. Company vehicles may be used for work assignments when needed.
